Preparación para TOEFL Junior

You may know about TOEFL. TOEFL stands for the Test of English as a Foreign Language. People who are not native speakers of English use TOEFL scores to enter an English speaking university. Sometimes, they use TOEFL for a job. 

Well, younger people such as teenagers may need to prove their English skills, too. TOEFL is meant for adults so that’s why the company that makes TOEFL has started to make a version for younger people. That’s TOEFL Junior. TOEFL Junior is made for students who are 11 years old and up. Just like the adult version of TOEFL, TOEFL Junior will test a student on how well he or she can use and understand English.

There are two versions of the TOEFL Junior because not everybody has the same needs. The two versions are

• TOEFL Junior Standard test: it’s a paper-based or computer-based test that measures Reading Comprehension, Listening Comprehension, and Language Form and Meaning.
• TOEFL Junior Speaking test: it’s a computer-based test that measures your ability to communicate orally in English in a classroom setting.

Each test measures different English language skills. The standard test does not measure a person’s speaking ability since many students don’t have a big need for that skill. On the other hand, some students don’t need to worry about their reading and grammar so much, but do need to speak a lot, so they would take the speaking test. Both tests are reliable and accurate. Of course, you can take both tests if you need to.
